Marlene is an advocate and expert for proactive mental health awareness with a M.A. in Human Services Counseling: Specialized in Crisis Response and Trauma from Liberty University. She is a founder and chair of a nonprofit that specializes in mental health, crisis response, and education services. She believes the key to positive health and relationships is to understand how the mind reacts to stress and negativity and to learn how to improve your internal defenses before tragedy strikes. Proactively seek health before it becomes illness.

As a past K-12 teacher and current PhD in Education: Organizational Leadership, and psychology professor, Marlene believes school choice (leaving zoned neighborhoods) is only a bandaid for the inequity in our public school system. Your address or income should not dictate the quality of your child's education. Every family should have the opportunity to select the best method of education for their family being. We need more school options within CCSD school zones, private schools, charter schools, online, in-person, or a hybrid. We need to equip EVERY school to help all students, educationally and mentally, especially our special needs students. Every school should be allowed to adapt to their unique socioeconomic location.

Nevada should also be the clean energy capital of the U.S. with jobs that benefits all workers with education in the trades as well as higher education degrees. Higher costs of living demand wages that keep up so the average family can achieve their American dream without fear from income inequity in relation to business growth. A mutually beneficial partnership between the labor force, unionized or not, and employers is essential for sustained growth.
The government has no place in your doctor's visit. Your personal decisions are just that, PERSONAL. I am pro choice in that matter and my personal beliefs should never override yours. You should have every option available that you and your doctor deem appropriate for yourself and your family.

The second amendment is enshrined in our constitutional rights. Common sense regulations should never take this right away for law abiding citizens. Having personally experienced loss due to gun violence, I see the need for regulations that help keep guns out of the hands of individuals that no longer deserve this right. These regulations should not stop law abiding citizens from self-protection, hunting, or responsible recreation while protecting our society from senseless mass shootings. There is no perfect law to stop this, but we cannot simply "hope and pray" this problem away.
